Branded Workwear: Westpeak’s Embroidery and Heat Transfer Services

Westpeak’s Embroidery and Heat Transfer Services
Westpeak has been providing high-quality uniform apparel, safety equipment, and accessories to New Zealand’s workers since 1994. Though initially focused on miners, farmers, fishermen, and mechanics, we have since expanded to cover a broad variety of industries.
One of our most popular services is our range of branded workwear. In this blog, we discuss the advantages of investing in quality, branded workwear, and compare the two methods – embroidery and heat transfer – for applying text and logos to your workers’ clothing.
Benefits of Branded Clothing
Having your organisation’s name and logo visible on your workers’ uniforms is an affordable and effective way of raising awareness of your brand. It makes your business appear more professional and transparent, and also creates trust in your client base. Customers perceive workers in branded clothing as taking greater pride in their work, and they have greater confidence in the quality of their services.
There are also benefits for your workers. Workers wearing branded clothing are more likely to feel part of a team and take greater pride in their work. They are also more likely to feel that they are representing your business when out in the field, which can lead to a greater sense of accountability and even to improved performance.
Embroidery Vs. Heat Transfer
There are two main methods of applying branding to clothing – embroidery and heat transfer. Below is a quick overview of each method.
Embroidering
Embroidering stitches the logo directly into the fabric of your uniform. Once you have decided on the text and image to be applied to your uniform, your logo is digitised and uploaded as a program to a computer. This program then operates the sewing heads, which recreate the logo on your chosen item of clothing.
This method of branding is particularly well suited to small logos and for use on heavier fabrics, such as caps and outerwear. It is more durable than heat transfer, lasting throughout the lifetime of the garment. Stitching is perceived as a prestige branding option, instilling a sense of pride in your staff and greater confidence among your customers.
Heat Transfer
Heat transfers have evolved hugely in the last couple of years and now offer excellent stretch and rebound, with no cracking or fading even after 50+ washes. Heat transfer is often chosen for larger print runs with multiple colours. It is a highly adaptable option that can be used for fast delivery on large and small orders. Your logo is held on file and is printed as soon as an order is placed, saving delivery times. Heat transfers are perfect for hi-vis polos, rainwear, plain polos, and germinal workwear. However, embroidery is still the go-to choice for more corporate workwear.
